Prescot Area Board Allocation

Area Board funding has been approved for a number of projects across Knowsley which will impact upon problems identified as a priority by Prescot and Whiston residents.

Neighbourhood Strategies identified graffiti as a problem on estates in Prescot / Whiston. £2,000 has been approved to deal with this problem across Knowsley, some of which will be used in these areas.

£10,000 is being made available to ensure that open spaces are secured and maintained. Neighbourhood Strategies for the Prescot / Whiston area also established that demolition sites were being a major cause for concern.

£5,000 is made available for KHT to work with KMBC to help reduce the damage caused by trees in Prescot and Whiston neighbourhoods.

New, heavy duty, non-slip floor coverings will be provided in each of the two sheltered blocks at Vicarage Place in Prescot. This will not only improve safety for the elderly residents but also the appearance of the communal areas. The estimated cost of the work is £2,700.

At a recent meeting attended by KHT, Merseyside Police, KMBC and SHAP, concerns were expressed about a possible upsurge of anti-social behaviour during the school summer holidays on the Lickers Lane estate. A number of responses were discussed, including a programme of events run by the youth service, heightened police presence, housing management responses to anti-social tenants and environmental health officers using their statutory powers. It was agreed that activities which focussed on the estate and its young people, would be a powerful way of letting them know that they are valued. Discussions are currently taking place to gather funding for these planned activities.
