Equality and Diversity
We are all different. At Knowsley Housing Trust, our aim is to
promote an environment that embraces this diversity and ensures
that all our customers, employees, Board Members and stakeholders
are treated fairly and equally.
In this section of the Internet, there are a number of douments
which will explain in more detail what equality and diversity is
all about, why it is important why KHT wants to develop and
celebrate diversity both in and out of the workplace.
Equality and Diversity Policy
Updated and agreed by the Board in May 2006, our Equality and
Diversity Policy sets out KHT’s commitment to eliminating
unfair discrimination from all aspects of work and service delivery
and ensures there are mechanisms in place for implementing,
monitoring and co-ordinating progress towards the achievement of
equality.
The aim of KHT’s policy is to:
• Identify and eliminate unlawful discrimination
• Promote equality of opportunity in all KHT activity
• Provide practical and responsive services to victims of
discrimination
• Manage diversity in people through recognising and
encouraging the differences within them
• Recognise that everyone is entitled to be treated with
openness, integrity and respect
• Ensure full records are kept to monitor the impact of this
policy
The policy sets out KHT’s commitments in the following
areas:
• Provision of housing and all services to residents (Sales
and lettings, tenancy management and involvement)
• Employment including recruitment promotion training and
employment practice
• Governance
• Partnerships/Procurement
• Communities
• Culture
