Equality and Diversity Strategy
Updated and agreed by the Board in February 2006, our Equality
and Diversity Strategy sets out what KHT wants to achieve in
relation to equality and diversity, to eliminate discrimination,
and to deliver our commitments. It also provides a clear framework
for what we are trying to achieve, how we will achieve it and the
mechanisms we will use to measure success.
KHT have developed this Strategy for a number of reasons:
• it’s the right thing to do
• to comply with legislation, guidance and Government
initiatives such as the new Respect agenda
• to improve services and make them more efficient, effective
and economic. Understanding customers is at the heart of delivering
goods and services. Taking account of diversity is crucial in
developing new products and services and meeting our
customer’s current and future needs.
The strategy outlines KHT’s goals and the outcomes we expect
in the following business areas:
• Culture
• Employment
• Communities
• Governance
• Partnerships/procurement
• Sales and Lettings
• Tenancy and Housing Management
• Racial Harassment and Anti Social Behaviour
• Involvement
