Knowsley gets the ‘Advantage’
Knowsley tenants all have the ‘Advantage’ thanks to
an exciting new scheme launched recently by Knowsley Housing Trust
(KHT).
‘Advantage’ is a fantastic new package of support and
benefits for KHT tenants. It is KHT’s way of saying thank you
to those tenants who pay their rent and keep to their tenancy
agreement. It also gives members the chance to save money with
discounts at shops which include Asda, Comet, Iceland and other
local businesses. The scheme also allows access to childcare and
benefits advice, helps tenants learn new skills, win fantastic
prizes and apply for grants for community projects.
KHT Advantage was officially launched at all of its offices and
proved to be a project which has got the people of Knowsley
talking.
“I think the Advantage is a great idea,” said KHT
tenant Barbara White.
“I can use my discount card at my local supermarket to help
cut my shopping bill and the projects in my neighbourhood funded by
Advantage are really bringing the community
together.”
Head of the Advantage project is KHT’s Louise Harris, who
is excited at the opportunities available to KHT residents:
“Advantage will not only improve the social and environmental
wellbeing of our neighbourhoods, but also give our tenants a real
opportunity to get training and learn new skills. It has been
developed with tenants, for tenants and we can see it making a huge
difference to many people in Knowsley.”
Companies are queuing up to work with KHT to help deliver the
scheme. Knowsley Works and Knowsley Community College are official
partners and are providing FREE help to any KHT tenants who want to
get back into employment with interview skills training, CV writing
and career advice.
The Prince’s Trust is another Advantage Partner and is
delivering a ‘Get Started with Football and Music’
campaign. This exciting course will give young adults the chance to
spend time with professionals in music and football such as Everton
and Liverpool FC.
The Advantage aims to make big changes to the communities and
people of Knowsley. You can find out more about how you can get the
Advantage by calling 0151 290 7000 or go to http://advantage.k-h-t.org
