Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour in Knowsley
KHT Board Member John Phillips recently took the chance to find out more about how the Trust supports activities to reduce Anti-Social Behaviour in Knowsley. The Trust has invested £50,000 in a series of day long events currently taking place at the Bosco Learning Centre in Croxteth. This excellent venue includes a theatre, IT Suite, recording and film studio and play facilities. The aim of the programme is to educate 10 and 11 year olds about the dangers of getting involved in anti-social behaviour. It achieves this in a number of ways, including; theatre and rap workshops and a computer based quiz game called Web Detectives. It also gives the young people an opportunity to meet and get to know local Police Officers, Fire Prevention Officers and Ambulance Crews. Coincidentally on the day of John's visit, pupils from Millbrook, St Lawrence's and St Maries schools from his home town of Kirkby were attending.
John said: "It's a fantastic facility here and the children really seemed to enjoy and get involved in all of the activities. These young people represent the future of Knowsley. I think it's really important that we encourage and support them to do something positive with their lives and help them to realise the impact that their behaviour has on their local community."
