More activities for young people this autumn
Climbing walls, DJing, rapping, football, gymnastics, dance,
discos, martial arts and photograghy are just some of the
activities on offer to young people across Knowsley over the coming
weeks.
Over a hundred activities have been organised to help steer the
energy and talent of young people into positive activities,
providing structured occupation and personal development
opportunities, and building team working skills and a sense of
achievement.
The range of activities have been designed to meet local needs,
based on the views of young people themselves.
Councillor Jackie Harris, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and
Social Inclusion, said “Providing young people with access to
organised activities will help them channel their energies into
constructive activities, which is fundamental to reducing youth
crime and creating safer communities. The range of activities on
offer will provide young people with a worthwhile alternative to
wandering the streets, help them develop interests and build self
respect. Most of the activities are completely free of charge and
given the broad range of activities on offer to cater for all
interests, this really is an opportunity not to be
missed.”
The activities are being provided by a range of partners, many of
which are being offered free of charge thanks to funding from
Knowsley Council, Knowsley Housing Trust and the Knowsley Youth
Offer.
