Hero Taggart to the Rescue
Knowsley Housing Trust plasterer John Taggart is a hero after
helping to save the life of a tenant.
After turning up to work on a routine job, John found himself in a
race against time after Jeanette Usher collapsed in her home in
Stockbridge Village:
“When I arrived Jeanette explained that she was not feeling
well, but I never thought of much of it,” John
explained.
“I started a conversation but she never answered and as I
turned around I found her unconscious and slumped in her
chair.”
John then made sure she could breathe and laid her on her side to
open her airways and quickly dialled 999. Jeanette was then taken
to Whiston hospital and has now made a full recovery.
Jeanette who suffers from Angina and collapsed because of an
ongoing blood disorder, doesn’t remember much about the
event:
“All I remember was letting John in and then waking up in the
hospital. If it wasn’t for John who knows what may have
happened.”
In fact the ambulance service said that if John hadn’t
reacted and used his common sense then it could have been a lot
worse.
John has come back to visit since the incident Jeanette will never
forget what he did.
“I’ll always be grateful to John. If it wasn’t
for his quick thinking and calm approach I may not be here to tell
my story. He is a real hero.”
