No Nonsense to ASB
Yesterday KHT, as part of a multi agency operation, delivered a
direct no nonsense response to public concerns over anti-social
behaviour (ASB), which resulted in 30 arrests as part of a number
of raids throughout Westvale, Kirkby.
The Total Policing Action Day was the culmination of an eight week
long ASB Taskforce deployment to tackle ASB through enforcement and
engagement, involving a number of agencies.
The arrests were for a variety of offences including burglary,
cannabis cultivation, conspiracy to supply controlled drugs,
possession with intent to supply controlled drugs, money
laundering, warrants and fraud. Alongside this operation 22
vehicles have also been seized in the Westvale area.
This is an excellent result for the Anti-social Behaviour
Taskforce, formed in October 2006 to support Merseyside
Police’s force-wide ‘blitz’ on ASB.
Speaking of the operation, Steve Gow, KHT’s Assistant
Director of Housing, stated ‘This morning’s operation
was a result of eight weeks of planning with partner agencies,
based on information passed to us by the local community. As a
direct result of this work within the community of the past weeks,
incidents of anti-social behaviour in Westvale have gone down by
40%. Without the local community this would not have been such a
successful operation and hopefully it sends out the message that we
will support those individuals in the community who are prepared to
speak out against these criminals”.
Yesterday’s operation is clearly the result of KHT and
Merseyside Police’s commitment to placing the communities at
the heart of the service that they deliver and sends out the strong
message that this type pf behaviour and criminal activity will not
be tolerated.
