KHT staff dig in to help school
KHT staff cleared ice and snow from outside a school to allow
hundreds of children to return safely to class.
Trust workers came to the aid of St Margaret Mary's Catholic
School, in Huyton, during the cold snap and are continuing to help
the community wherever possible.
Head teacher Patricia Deggen said: "The KHT workers are fantastic
and have been marvellous. Everyone has been amazed at how quickly
and hard they have worked in this cold weather."
After hearing that children and staff would be unable to attend
school due to the treacherous weather conditions, KHT maintenance
staff decided to step in to clear the snow, break up ice and grit
the paths to make the school safe.
Patricia added: "I can't say enough good things about them. If it
wasn't for them we would still be closed today."
The Trust's staff, which work on many of the 13,000 KHT properties,
have been looking to help the local community wherever possible
during the cold snap.
KHT Chief Executive Bob Taylor said: "Although we are prioritising
our customers and their needs this shows the commitment our staff
have to the local community.
"The bad weather had caused all sorts of problems for people across
the Knowsley area, but we are determined to do all we can to
help."
