The Working Neighbourhoods Fund is allocated to Local Authorities to tackle worklessness and low levels of skills and enterprise in the most deprived areas.

Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) is commissioning part of the Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF) on behalf of The Knowsley Partnership.

The aim of this programme is to provide Social Enterprises with investment that will ‘pump prime’ or inject cash into their project to maximise the number of employment and/or training opportunities for Knowsley residents.

Both new and existing social enterprises are eligible to apply for funding and you do not need to be located in Knowsley.

However the investment must be used to 'pump prime' your social enterprise to create jobs and/or training opportunities for Knowsley residents.

In 2009/10 KHT commissioned 2 Social Enterprises Oasis and Knowsley Enterprise Academy.

Oasis has established a gardening maintenance service for elderly residents in Knowsley. The service is undertaken by young people who are classed as NEET (not in education, employment or training) are providing valuable job experience and training to NVQ level.

Knowsley Enterprise Academy has established neetTV a Social Enterprise to tackle worklessness by offering education, team building, problem solving, and presentation and employability skills. Students can achieve a range of OCN qualifications using state of the art RED ONE technology.
