Equality and impact

An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process that KHT goes through to check the effects (positive, negative or indifferent) that any new or existing policy or strategy will have on KHT customers, potential customers and also staff.

We look specifically at the different groups of people in our communities such as older people, disabled people, lesbian, gay or bisexual people, men and women. We also look at ethnicity and different religious beliefs. Moving forward we will also consider peoples socio-economic background.

The purpose of an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is to improve the service delivered to customers of KHT by making sure it does not discriminate either directly or indirectly and that, where possible, it also promotes equality.

KHT carries out Equality Impact Assessments on all its policies and strategies in line with our Policy Review Timetable. We use a toolkit developed from best practice from the sector to help us do this.
