KHTs 10th Birthday
On Sunday 15th July, Knowsley Housing Trust celebrated its tenth birthday.
In 2001, a Formal offer Document was sent out to all Knowsley Council homes asking them to vote on whether they would like to transfer to KHT. Over 60% of the people who returned their ballot voted yes and so the decision was made to transfer the ownership and management of its rented housing to KHT, with a total of £17,000 properties being transferred.
Since 2001, KHT have gone on to change the skyline of Knowsley and improved the lives of thousands of tenants in the borough. As such, this year we have planned a schedule of events which will make our 10th birthday an all year party - celebrating our successes, partnerships, tenants and much more.
Already this year we have held events to commemorate our 10th birthday:
- We buried a time capsule full of memories of the past decade and plans for the future to be re-opened in 2022.
- We held our annual Community Day with a birthday theme which included more than 500 birthday cakes and a giant birthday card for everyone to sign.
- We have produced a 30 minute film which commemorates our ten years with ten case studies of our key achievements.
- We took our birthday message to the annual CIH conference taking our celebrations to a National Scale.
- On Monday 16 July (the closest working day to our birthday) we held an all-day event at Lakeview in which Board Members, Key Partners, Selected tenants and representatives from local Social Enterprises came along to see the different teams within the organisation, find information about the projects they are working on and what plans they have for the future.

We also have many up-coming events:
- ‘Why I Love Knowsley’ Road show – With this travelling road show set for August, we will bring KHT to you in a series of events around the borough. With the road show we will bring the communities facts about our last decade, plans for the future, projects that affect our tenants and much more. (More information about the travelling road show will be communicated soon).
- Community Achievement Awards in which we have invited the people of KNowsley to nominate their unsung heroes. This is our chance to say thank you and reward those people who go the extra mile.
