Advice on saving energy and reducing fuel costs
Affordable Warmth
Knowsley Housing Trust is committed to tackling fuel poverty and
achieving affordable warmth for all our customers.
Our overall objective is to make sure no-one in the households
managed by us suffers from fuel poverty, that excess winter deaths
are significantly reduced and that all residents can afford to heat
their homes adequately.
By working with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council and its
partner organisations, key health professionals and groups who can
identify vulnerable people, we can tackle this issue and ensure
that fuel poor households get the most appropriate advice.

Energy Saving Tips
* Don't overheat your home - by turning your central heating down
by just 1 degree could reduce your fuel bills by 10% a year
* Don't overfill the kettle - only boil as much water as you need
to use
* Change to energy efficient light bulbs - they may be more
expensive initially but they use a fraction of the electricity of
normal light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer
* Always turn off lights when you leave a room
* Don't leave appliances (E.g. Television, DVD player, stereo) on
standby as it wastes electricity and costs you money
* When you buy new appliances (E.g. washing machine, fridge,
freezer) always look for the most energy efficient model to reduce
your bills
* Draw the curtains when it goes dark to keep in the warmth
* Turn off mobile phone chargers as soon as they have been charged.
The charger will continue to use electricity if the PowerPoint
switch is left on even if no phone is connected
* Use a microwave oven to cook small meals - its much cheaper
