Business is blooming at the Bluebell Bistro

Sandra Carline has recently taken over the Bistro at Bluebell Park, our award-winning supported living scheme in Huyton. Sandra and her team who have worked together for around five years and are known for providing excellent customer service.

The Bistro opened in mid – September and now operates every weekday from 9am-3pm. After careful consultation with Bluebell residents, the team have created an attractive menu and an all-day breakfast is already planned.

The lunch time menu includes hot and cold tasty treats ranging from sandwiches to homemade soups, paninis, pastas and salads. A range of hot and cold drinks are readily available including freshly ground coffee and deluxe hot chocolate.

The café is open to the public and take away options are available. Sandra’s friendly team are happy to take phone orders from resident’s apartments and from nearby businesses.

“We also offer a range of alternative options, such as gluten free, lacto free and vegetarian,” says Sandra. “We’re planning to provide a vegan breakfast too.”

Plans for the Bistro have been in discussion since May and engaging with the customer demographic has helped the café to already become a popular success. “We aim to keep prices affordable, but we’re also health conscious. All food is baked rather than fried and most items are homemade including cakes, coleslaw and more.” Sandra tells us.

Sandra’s team provide a waitress service for customers along with daily newspapers and magazines so that anyone can pop in for a coffee or even a slice of cake.

“We’re not open at the weekend, but we’re planning a Sunday roast on Mondays and we have hot and cold specials and desserts available every day.” Customers are welcome to pay by cash or card and seasonal treats such as Halloween ginger bread and Christmas goodies will be available.

“Some residents like to buy things that they can heat up for their tea in their flat; so, we offer this service if they don’t feel like cooking. It’s lovely to see people coming together here in the café, we feel we’re off to a great start.”

Martina Devlin, Business Manager for Independent Customer Services at Bluebell commented: “The success of the Bistro serves to enhance our wider offer for people living in our schemes. We’re delighted to see our customers enjoying this additional element to our excellent services.”
