Do you ever feel lonely? It’s very common – ask around! Whether we’re older and living alone, or a new parent adapting to life with a baby, most of us will experience feeling lonely at some point in our lives. So, why do we still find it so hard to talk about?
Loneliness Awareness Week 2019
Loneliness Awareness Week takes place every year to help reduce the stigma around the topic. Run by the Marmalade Trust, the week is the start of a yearlong campaign to promote awareness and access to positive support.
This Loneliness Awareness Week, members of our Independent Living and our Tenancy Sustainability teams are signing up to take the Marmalade Trust pledge (https://pledge.marmaladetrust.org/) to say it’s OK to say ‘I feel lonely’ and get people talking.
What help is out there for me?
Events run throughout the week at our Community Centres and Extra Care developments, including regular coffee afternoons. Ask your Independent Living Advisor for details.
Our partner, Wellbeing Enterprises, can help you put together a plan of action and find ways of doing more of the things you enjoy.
