What we use it for
We require this information to understand your needs and improve our service. We aim to keep your information as up-to-date as possible.
How we look after your information
We have put in place suitable physical and electronic procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. While we hold your information for only as long as is necessary, we’re legally obliged to keep some records for an extended period of time, such as housing benefits payments. Once we no longer need this information, it is safely destroyed.
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure and make every possible effort to fulfil our obligations under the Data Protection Act.
The Data Protection Act
We will process all the personal data we collect from you in line with the eight principles of the Data Protection Act. The data we process must be:
- fairly and lawfully processed
- processed for limited purposes
- adequate, relevant and not excessive
- accurate and up to date
- not kept for longer than necessary
- processed in line with your rights
- kept secure regardless of whether it’s an electronic or physical file
- not transferred to other countries outside of the EEU without adequate protection
Controlling your personal information
Sharing your information
Sometimes we may share some of your information with other organisations. This may be because we have a legal obligation to do so or to ensure you get the best service possible. For example, we will forward your details on to utility companies so that you’re supplied with energy and water in your home.
If we need to share your information with another organisation and you haven’t already given your consent, we will ask you for it before releasing any information. We never sell or pass on your information to business or organisations so they can contact you to sell you products or services.
Access your information
As a registered Data Controller we can provide you with the information we hold about you upon request. This is called a Subject Access Request. You must pay an administration fee of £10.00 and put your request to us in writing:
