A team of Christmas helpers are packing and delivering a host of festive hampers for customers across Knowsley.
Local housing provider, Knowsley Housing Trust, in conjunction with FareShare, the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste, is spreading cheer to 30 customers, by gifting Christmas hampers, made up of donated festive food, treats and surplus fresh fruit and vegetables.
16 apprentices from across the First Ark Group packed all 30 hampers for their most in-need customers and these will now be delivered by hand in Knowsley Housing Trust vans.
Leann Hearne, Group Chief Executive of Knowsley Housing Trust, said:
‘’We’re here to support our valued customers and spread some festive joy. Our Christmas hampers will make a real difference to families most at need- they are packed full of items donated by staff at the Trust, including Christmas puddings, tinned goods and toiletries. ”
Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive at FareShare, said:
“We partnered with Knowsley Housing Trust on this Christmas project to help the hundreds of families in Knowsley scraping by without food. Currently, 1 in 8 people in the UK regularly go hungry. Our charity works with the local community to provide fresh, nutritious food to create healthy meals.”
